The year was 1845 and the most famous Professor Pokémon, Aurelius Florence had invested in a huge campaign, to get his pokédex completed (including the 151 creatures known at that time). A rumor about the apparition of the only creature not yet captured, called Mew, in the Faraway Island, Hoenn, made Aurelius invest his time and money to a tour to that region.

The whole trip paid itself, as the professor’s notes shown:

“It was the end of the afternoon when we arrived at the Faraway Island, an almost lost Island in the Hoenn Region. I decided to have a walk around the forest and after 10 minutes walking alone, I thought I was exposed to a Pokémon manifesting a very rare phenomenon called Illumina, but I was mesmerizingly wrong: In front of me… MEW had just appeared, surrounded by colorful bubbles. And its color… Mew wasn’t pink, but BLUE!”

That moment triggered an obsession: now Aurelius would invest the time necessary to accomplish his biggest goal: capture that very rare creature.

It’s also very well known that MEW is the master of disguise. It will appear in front of you only if it is feeling safe or interested. Mew can also turn in a different form, so you’ll never know when you’re in its presence.

It’s important to remember that Aurelius spent almost an entire year bonding with Mew and becoming good friends. The Professor was always serving Mew’s favorite food and fruits at a stage that the creature was taking snacks from his hand.

At that time, not having any master ball technology available, Aurelius and his crew used traditional traps to capture Mew, it’s said they spent about 150 poké balls in one go to finally capture his most desired creature. In 12/03/1846 Professor Aurelius announced the world he had caught the rarest Pokémon ever. He was the only human possessing a shiny Mew.
